About

Cataloging my adventures driving across America, one town at a time. I will do my best to avoid the Eisenhower Interstate System as much as possible, but will stop to see many of the landmarks of our great country. Most of all, I hope to meet some of the great people that live here, share a meal or cold beverage with them and learn a thing or two. Suggestions welcome.

This is footage of the snowfall on February 12, 2010 in Columbia, South Carolina. Jasper the Friendly Beagle can be seen frolicking in the snow. This is the first time he had ever seen snow.

Tomorrow I drive to the city of B. Franklin: Philadelphia. I’ll be looking to see some history and some of the sights referenced in the Benjamin Franklin biography I listened to during my trip.
This marks the home stretch for me. Two more stops and then I will return home to Columbia after 22 days on the road and well over 8,000 miles. Thanks for tuning in, take care.

Today I begin my journey to the Great Lakes. As a native of Mentor, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, the only great lake I’ve swam in was Lake Erie. I won’t be swimming on this trip, but I hope to bring back some sand from a beach along each of the five Great Lakes.
My first stop is Duluth, Minnesota, near Lake Superior. This lake is the largest of the five and the furthest north. Tomorrow I had towards Mackinaw City, Michigan, which sits between Lakes Huron and Michigan. Monday I drive to Cleveland and will be taking some footage of where I grew up, schools I went to and some other important sites of my childhood. Tuesday I drive to Niagara Falls, which despite being only 3 hours from Cleveland, I have never seen.
Sure, the Great Lakes may not have the grandeur of the Grand Canyon or the beautiful mountains out West, but for me, seeing all five accomplishes a long-held goal. Thanks for reading, take care.
